Why choose a 'holistic' birth doula?
Holistic birth doulas look at the client as a whole and provide education and resources based on what the client wants and needs. If a client requests to have an unmedicated birth with no interventions or medication, holistic doulas essentially educate the client and provide support. Doulas cannot guarantee the outcome that medical intervention is not necessary. If you are planning a home birth or birthing center experience and an emergency room transport is necessary, your doula will follow you and stay until after the baby is born for support. If there are any complications during the labor and delivery process where a caesarean occurs, I will assist you in the postpartum recovery room. Here at Holistic Goddess Awakening I provide herbs for prenatal and postpartum care. The herbs will be shared with you once you are taken on as our client. These herbs may be used in teas, yoni steams, and lotus births. As always consult with your physician or herbalist before taking them.
Birth position support
The rebozo technique has been used commonly in the Mexican culture by indigenous women of color. During labor and prenatal appointments, the rebozo assist baby to work their way down. The fabric is used to provide resistance and move baby into proper position (commonly used in Spinning Babies technique). Pictured to the right is my client's husband performing the technique called "Shaking the apple tree" while she is labor. I will provide different positions and help you both prepare during prenatal visits.
